Singapore and Port Kelang, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Singapore is an ancient site, the region of much turmoil, war and great myths. Once a British colony, the remnants of which are still visible in not only the architecture but the way of life. A very diverse city of several million, this tidy and orderly metropolis boast some of the hottest and most humid weather in SE Asia. No contest there!

We had planned to take public transit, the subway system and buses, to China Town for an afternoon of shopping, not today , too hot. Instead we decided to visit the beautiful colonial National Museum. It was terrific with exhibits detailing modern and past life in this bustling city. The newest part of the 118 year old building resembled an art gallery rather than museum. Technologically advanced with massive audio visual displays enhanced an already rich and juicy history.
Once through the museum, at least all that we could do as apparently it takes a full nine hours to view and hear all the dialogue for each exhibit, we headed back to the ship. Books in tow we managed to make tea time for a snack and a rest beside the pool before dinner.

Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

The amazing Gardens by the Bay complex was just off the stern of our ship, this is the largest horticultural installation on the planet and still growing. I had the opportunity to work there a few years ago but my path has taken us along a different route.
